Moddus Evo Trial
Investigatingthe yield improvement from using Moddus Evo in wheat and comparing it to anapplication of Amistar Xtra. In addition we wanted to demonstrate theshortening of the crop for lodging purposes.
Dumbleyung, WA, 2017
Summary
This trial was established near Dumbleyung, WesternAustralia to compare and demonstrate/investigate to the David Gray’s extendednetwork the potential increase in yield on Wheat with an application of ModdusEvo and likewise with an application of Amistar Xtra.
Moddus Evo is designed to increase grain yield by reducedlodging, reducing excessive bio-mass & enhancing general crop development.
Amistar Xtra has a greening effect on the crop and improvesyield in tight finishes, unfortunately Dumbleyung experienced a soft finishwith no yield increase measured.
Application timing in this trial was late and thus adversecrop bleaching/discolouration was experienced in the Moddus Evo plots, resulting in a 400 Kg/Ha reduction in yield.

Data Analysis
All data analysis in this report was conducted using Microsoft Excel. Simple means, analysis of variance and the student t-test were used to determine statistical significance using the least significant difference method with a 95% confidence interval.
Results
Nodal Lengths
Yield
There is a numerical reduction of roughly 400 Kg/Ha due to the late application of Moddus Evo. However the least significant difference (LSD) for this data set is 564 Kg which means that the yield differences in this trial are not statistically different.
Protein & Moisture
The additional moisture in the Amistar Xtra plots is likely due to the crop remaining green a little longer and the reduction in moisture in the Moddus Evo plots is likely due to the adverse effects of the late application and thus pre-mature ripening.
Conclusion
In this trial, Moddus Evo was applied later than labelrecommendation, which resulted in a slight bleaching in the crop and resultantreduction in yield. AgroAdvantage is responsible for the late application andhence the failure of the trial. However this is a good lesson to demonstratethe importance of following label recommendations in which case requiredapplication prior to growth stage 32. The Moddus Evo treated plots weredefinitely shortened which could easily be seen when driving past. It seems tohave had little effect on nodes 1 & 2 but has shortened node 3. Probablydue to the late application.
The application of Amistar Xtra showed no yield benefit. There was no disease spotted in the crop and the Amistar Xtra plots would not have benefited from any greening effect due to the very soft finish to the season. Plenty of moisture and cool temperatures.
