Terrain Fence-line Trial Demo

May 26, 2020

Demonstrationof the residual of Terrain WG used at high rates as a firebreak/fence-lineproduct.

Dumbleyung, WA, 2017

Summary

This trial was established on the 7th of July2017 to demonstrate to the extended David Gray’s network the use of Terrain WGas a fence line product. The aim was to apply the product in April/May toshowcase its long residual when applied at high rates. We got it down in Julywhich is later than planned however the visuals where very good during ourfield days in August/September. We have documented the demonstration and sharedvideos with our agent network. A dropbox link to those videos can be found inthe appendix.

The spraying of large weeds on fence lines mid-season hasresulted in the development of resistant weeds from not achieving 100% killyear after year. To help reduce this risk it is suggested that fence lines aresprayed earlier (pre or post sowing) when the weed pressure is low ornon-existent and using a product such as Terrain with residual that should holdoff the weeds for up to 4-8 months (depending on soil, rainfall etc.)

Conclusion

There was very little to no regrowth right up until the end of the season despite a number of substantial rainfall events. The photos and videos tell the story and if you compare to the farmers fence line on the right of the fence (sprayed late September) 2.5 months after the Terrain application – very comparable. In 2018 we will apply post sowing and monitor the residual longevity.
